The 7121 USB biometric reader from Omnikey (previously the CardMan CM7121) is a stylish looking combined smartcard and fingerprint reader with a specially designed standing base for optimal functionality.
The reader merges the reliable smartcard reading capabilities from the highly popular 3121 with an Authentec RF Field Swipe Sensor and fingerprint recognition from True-Print technology providing the most accurate fingerprint images.
The contact smartcard technology within the unit is fully PC/SC and EMV Level 1 compliant and supports all ISO 7816 microprocessor-based smartcards as well as a variety of popular memory cards. It also meets USB 2.0 and CCID specifications for simple driver installation.
The Authentec RF Field Swipe Sensor has a 500 ppi resolution and 192 x 16 pixels detection matrix, yet it maintains its robustness, allowing for more than 10 million rubs. The Authentec sensor is able to read virtually every fingerprint, utilises fast image capture speeds and easily reads angled and ‘imperfect’ finger swipes. The 7121 is compatible with various biometric algorithm vendors (e.g. Precise, Siemens, Bromba).
By combining these high end technologies Omnikey have created a reader that, whilst being especially well suited for logical access control systems in areas with high security demands requiring Match-On-PC functions, is also an open system enabling various configurations of fingerprint and smartcard appliances so can also serve as a combined access control device.
