The SCR243 from SCM is a contact smartcard reader made to fit most laptops and many PDA's through a PCMCIA type 2 slot, making it an ideal alternative to an external desktop reader.
This reader meets ISO 7816 and EMV level 1 standards and comes complete with WHQL approved drivers for Windows as well as support for Linux and MacOS. As with most SCM readers the SCR243 is firmware upgradable to allow for future enhancements.
The SCR243 comes supplied in a sturdy metal housing which allows smartcards to be inserted two thirds of the way, leaving enough visible for easy retraction. This high quality reader is ideal for users who require smartcard based applications in a mobile environment.
