Crescendo Evaluation Kit
Out-of-the-box, standards-compliant support for thousands of logical access applications
The Crescendo series smartcard specialises in logical and physical access control applications incorporating HID’s iClass and HID Proximity or MiFare technologies with a cryptographic contact chip. By combining logical and physical access control in a single card the Crescendo series reduces card management costs and increases user convenience. The kit contains both MiFare and iClass options of the Crescendo smartcard allowing users to evaluate and test integration of both technologies with any physical access systems already in place.
As well as including the relevant drivers and Crescendo CSP the Evaluation Kit also contains Smartcard Focus’ Crescendo start-up guide designed to help users easily set up Microsoft Windows Smartcard authentication. This guide contains detailed instructions on setting up Windows smartcard logon emphasising the main aspects specific to enabling and running a secure two-factor authentication system. The addition of this guide creates an all round easy to use package and gives IT managers a wealth of information to help combine logical and physical access control in a single card. To evaluate the logical access features of the Crescendo cards you will require at least one of the following smartcard readers:- Omnikey CM3121 - Our most popular USB desktop smartcard reader.
- Omnikey CM4040 - PCMCIA smartcard reader suitable for many laptops.
- Omnikey CM4321 - Smartcard reader for laptops with the new ExpressCard slot interface.
To evaluate the logical access functions of Crescendo and also investigate the integration opportunities of contactless cards with other PC applications we recommend the following reader:- Omnikey CM5321 - USB desktop combined contact and contactless reader.

The Crescendo C700 series of smartcards use a powerful contact chip with a cryptographic co-processor suitable for highly secure logical access control. Crescendo smartcards are supplied pre-initialised with the required on-card software and include all required drivers and middleware giving out-of-the-box, standards-compliant support for logical access control applications. By incorporating HID’s iClass and Prox technologies alongside the contact chip, users can also meet their secure physical access control needs in one card.

Cryptoflex for Windows
Cryptoflex for Windows is designed as a secure identity card that can be used for smartcard log-on, secure email, secure VPN and other PKI-based applications within a corporate environment.
It has 32K bytes of storage for digital credentials, private keys and digital certificates plus an on-board high-speed crypto-processor with various DES, 3DES and RSA functions. Appropriate drivers are already included in Windows 2000 and XP, making it easy to deploy for various applications combining information security, access control and, optionally, photo ID.
Please note that appropriate CA server software must also be deployed on the network in order to implement secure log-on etc. - these cards do not provide a log-on solution for stand-alone PCs.

This Smartcard Logon USB dongle is now available as a solution for multiple users sharing a PC or laptop, running Smartcard Logon software.
Additional dongles allow individuals to logon to their own Windows user accounts. The dongle is supplied with a pre-formatted logon card and can easily be attached to a key ring.
The attractive translucent exterior has a removable cover allowing for easy insertion and removal of the pre-formatted Smartcard Logon card and keeps it locked in place inside the unit.

MasterKey Card 24k
MasterKey smartcard for use with CHIPDRIVE Smartcard Office software. Supplied in standard credit card size for use in a PC desktop reader, it is also perforated to convert to SIM size format for use in a SIM-sized reader.
This card has a built in self-destruction mechanism which will make the card unusable after 3 incorrect PIN attempts. Storage capacity: 24Kb equates to either 300 passwords/bookmarks or 150 passwords and 150 bookmarks. This can vary depending URL length.
Note - you will also require a Smartcard Office software license for each PC you wish to protect, although you can buy the card on its own for backup purposes.
