2009.09.01 - Try the SCR3500 from SCM, a full sized smartcard reader in pocket sized format!

Smartcard Focus has introduced the SCR3500 from SCM, which is a conveniently sized portable contact smartcard reader. Due to its compact design the SCR3500 is ideally suited as a mobile reader device which easily fits into the user’s pocket, or can be attached to a key ring.

2009.08.11 - Support multiple applications on one smartcard - use the DESFire EV1 8K card from NXP!

Smartcard Focus now stocks the DESFire EV1 8K card from NXP, a high-speed and secure smartcard for contactless multi-applications. The MIFARE DESFire EV1 card can hold up to 28 different applications and 32 files per application thanks to the on-chip backup management system and the mutual three pass authentication.

2009.05.15 - MIFARE Ultralight C technology now available

Smartcard Focus now stocks the MIFARE Ultralight C chip from NXP in a paper ticket format. The paper tickets are 85mm x 54mm although custom sizes and printing are available. The chip operates a MIFARE Ultralight compatible command set and contains 192 bytes of usable read/write memory with secure data access and cloning protection via 3DES authentication.

This ticket is NFC forum type 2 compliant and the expanded memory capacity, compared to the standard MIFARE Ultralight chip, makes it highly suitable for storing NFC bookmarks, business cards and SMS tags.
